With the spending power of people increasing tremendously in some communities (where does all this money come from, I wonder), one of the things you can do to show others that you have arrived is to buy an exclusive luxury property in some exclusive location. Or better still, buy a few luxury properties. To take advantage of this pent-up desire to be one up on the Joneses, housing developers are also gearing up to offer bigger, better, more expensive and more exclusive luxury houses, some being sold fully furnished with all the trappings of wealth such as private swimming pools and spas. The majority of the newer developments offer gated communities with round-the-clock security. As always, the air of exclusiveness is a major selling point in the typical exclusive luxury house advertisement. Everybody wants to be unique and belong to some exclusive community.
Some housing developers who want to be one up on the competition even offer unusual benefits such as free overseas trips. Not to be outdone, this developer offers a rather unheard of advantage in his house advertisement:
