Happy Feet Recovering

Happy Feet, a lost penguin that landed on Peka Peka beach on the Kapiti Coast of North Island, New Zealand is fast recovering after endoscopic surgery to remove sand and twigs that it swallowed after mistaking it for snow. It is highly likely that this young Emperor penguin (named after the movie) was disoriented when it landed on Peka Peka beach, well off where Emperor penguins normally hang around, which is the Antarctica itself, 3000 miles away. Penguins normally eat snow to hydrate themselves in the Antarctica.
When it was noticed that the penguin’s health kept deteriorating from the heat in the beach, it was shipped to the Wellington Zoo and housed in a cold room with a bed of ice, where doctors did an endoscopic examination and found the offending material and removed half of it, hoping that the rest would pass naturally. Hopefully. Happy Feet’s appetite is improving and it is feeding on fish slurry.
Future plans? Send Happy Feet back to the Antarctica to his mates.
